A Promise Never Kept
Due to my recent blog " A Demonic Plague" I've decided to read another manga. I read volume one of The Promised Neverland. I would classify it as a hidden horror dystopian, which I don't think is a thing but it's how i would put it, because it has a very cute coverup for a dark story. Like stated promised Neverland is a dystopian at its finest with a world against the characters with some form of twisted normal. The main characters are three kids under the age of twelve who all live in an orphanage with a "Mother". The kids are tested every day in academics to see which kids are the smartest. The kids or kid who ranked the lowest would then miraculously get "adopted" over time. This is when it started getting creepy.

I found this read quite thrilling. I picked it up because I thought it was going to be cute until I read a little more and got this feeling of foreboding, almost like something isn't quite right. A little girl around the age of six named Conny ends up getting "adopted". In short, the girl forgot her stuffed animal and the main character, Emma, goes to give it to her. Emma then stumbles upon a nightmare, little Conny dead. When i tell you me jaw DROPPED, I mean it. I'm not going to put in the photo due to it being grunion, but she was literally stabbed with a flower. Obviously, Emma was mortified and ran away dropping the bunny causing her to get caught. After she got caught, she then got interrogated in the photo on the left.
I really like this manga I would recommend if you like a lil spook it does have quite a few twists and turns and is quite dark. This a snip bit of the story but if you do read it just know whatever you think it's about its not. If any of you have any dystopian, horror, thriller, or other book or manga recommendations please leave them I'd love to read them.

This is a very nice blog. I like the transition between the paragraphs especially, as it brings good character to your blog. I like the way that you explain the book, but yet don't spoil it for potential readers. The use of pictures is also a great touch. This blog is a 4.5/5
ReplyDeleteI love this especially since I understand the series being talked about. I have not be able to get my hands on the books but the anime does play off the books. I think that you put a ton of thought into this and it shows!! Also, its very nice that you didn't spoil the series or book!!
ReplyDelete4/5 FOUND FILES!
Anyone who reads/ watches this is not mentally sane! /hj. The anime lowkey was bomb until s2. I have not read the manga since im more of a anime watcher than reader. (that lowkey sounded so weird, like a nerd😭) but yeah so yummy.
ReplyDeletethis sounds scary but lowkey interesting. i feel like i would be so confused with the whole getting adopted thing but i can see why it would be interesting. i also really like the idea of how its a cute cover up for a scary story. i really liked how you explained the story but also just talked about the story and explained what its like to read. but yeah i really enjoyed reading this 😛 5/5
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this blog. It read smoothly and it was interesting. I feel like I would be a little confused by the plot, but it sounds like a good book. I give it a 4.5/5
ReplyDeleteThis sounds very interesting, and like it would have you on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed the format of "Down the rabbit hole we go". It adds a lot of character to your blog, and makes it more interesting! Overall, great job! 4.5/5 stars!
ReplyDeleteLike I had mentioned before I have never really gotten into anime or dystopian novels and it was really nice to be introduced to this style. Besides what you wrote, I really enjoyed the layout you had used since it added character to the blog. You made this really interesting, and gives me more of a motive to get into this genre! I give this blog a 5/5!
